Go Engine Management Company (Gemco) announces the expansion of its popular line of piston-engine cost-stabilization products with the addition of a unique, new Helicopter Savings Overhaul Program.

With expectations of flooded roads, damaged roads and bridges, and downed trees, military and first responders are putting helicopters on standby to assist with search-and-rescue (SAR) operations that might follow Hurricane Harvey into Texas. At the same time, the civilian helicopter community is also preparing to assist with the aftermath of the hurricane, much as it assisted following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Airbus Helicopters and IAR, Romania’s leading aerospace company, decide to extend their exclusive cooperation on the H215M multirole helicopter. Under this general agreement IAR will become the prime contractor for the H215M for any future order by the Romanian Ministry of Defense to replace their ageing fleet. Initially signed for five (5) years, the agreement has been extended to 15 years, further underlining the commitment of Airbus Helicopters and IAR to jointly contribute to the modernization of the Romanian armed forces fleet of multirole helicopters in the long term.

True Blue Power announces the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted type certification (TC) for the company’s TB17 (17-amp hour) lithium-ion, engine-start battery on Robinson R66 helicopters. In addition to this recent certification, the TB17 is now STC-approved on Robinson R44 helicopters and type-certified as standard equipment on Bell Helicopter’s new 505 Jet Ranger XTM.

Leonardo announces that the AW119Kx helicopter has been selected by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police for operations in support of water supply protection. Delivery of the aircraft is expected in 2018.

Allan Noble joins StandardAero. Noble will serve as the company’s M250 and RR300 helicopter engine MRO sales manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. 

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announces the Bell 525 Relentless program has resumed flight test activity after receiving experimental certificate renewal from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Shadin Avionics announces the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved the Shadin Avionics supplemental type certificates (STC) for the Robinson R66 fuel flow management system. The certification covers the installation of a RemoteFlo Fuel Flow System on the Robinson R66 helicopter and Rolls-Royce RR300 engine.

StandardAero Aviation Holdings, Inc. (“StandardAero”) and Airbus SE (“Airbus”) announce they have entered into exclusive negotiations with respect to an acquisition by StandardAero of Vector Aerospace Holding SAS (“Vector”) from Airbus.

Safran announces the first ground run of the Arriel 2L2 engine at its Bordes facility, beginning of June. The Arriel family was selected in 2016 to power the new Korean civil and military helicopters, known as the LCH (light civil helicopter) and LAH (light armed helicopter). The Arriel 2L2 is co-developed by Safran Helicopter Engines and Hanwha Techwin, which will license-produce units in its Changwon plant, South Korea. Hanwha Techwin will also be responsible for the engine’s MRO.

Leonardo and Sino-US Intercontinental Helicopter Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. announce a further reinforcement of their strategic cooperation in the Chinese helicopter market. During an official ceremony held at the Paris Air Show, the parties announced the signing of a contract for the purchase of 17 helicopters comprising two AW119Kx single-engine, ten AW109 Trekker light twin and five AW139 intermediate twin-engine models. The order is valued in excess of €100 million, with deliveries starting later this year.

Concorde Battery Corporation announces receipt of TSO-C173a, Technical Standard Order Authorization for the RG24-15, RG24-15M and RG24-16 13.6 Ah family of sealed lead-acid batteries. TSO-C173a authorization confirms that the batteries meet the minimum operational performance standards (MOPS) set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) in DO-293A.

PPG (NYSE:PPG) introduces a new, battery-powered, aerospace-sealant dispensing tool that is easier to use than traditional manual and pneumatic applicators and dispenses at faster rates. The SEMCO® model 1250 sealant tool weighs less than three pounds and is ergonomically designed with cordless and hoseless operation, compared with a standard Semco 250A dispensing tool that weighs about two pounds and is typically tethered to a 10-foot hose.

Representatives of Teledyne Battery Products, Gill Batteries, a division of Teledyne Technologies, announces that the company has received FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) permitting the installation of its new-generation 7000 Series (7638-44) sealed lead-acid battery on Airbus (Eurocopter) EC135/145 helicopters.

S.A.F.E Structure Designs announces that it has successfully satisfied its contract to supply hangar equipment outfitting the United States Coast Guard’s (USCG) fleet of Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawks in Mobile, Alabama.
