Raj Helweg, chief pilot of Air Methods, is named the new industry co-chairman of the United States Helicopter Safety Team (www.ushst.org). The USHST was formed in 2013 as a regional partner within the International Helicopter Safety Team (www.IHST.org) to lead a government and industry cooperative effort to promote safety and work to reduce civil helicopter accidents and fatalities.

Airbus Helicopters’ H145 is back in Asia to showcase its performance and capabilities through a series of demo flights in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Taiwan. The first H145 demo tour was held in Southeast Asia in 2013, covering Malaysia and Thailand. Since then, there has been an increasing interest in this rotorcraft, especially in the emergency medical services (EMS) and commercial/business aviation segments.

Titan Tool Supply, Inc., of Buffalo, NY, announces the introduction of its new line of TVT Series videoscopes to provide high-quality remote visual inspections for quality control. Lower in cost than comparable videoscopes, the new TVT line includes five different models with working lengths from 1m (40”) to 3m (118”) and three diameters (2.8mm, 4.5mm and 6mm). Titan Tool states that the 2.8mm diameter model enables inspections through extremely small openings. The videoscopes are designed for use in aviation maintenance, casting inspection, cavity inspection, diesel engine repair, gasoline engine repair, locomotive maintenance, ship maintenance, and other areas and application where remote visual inspection is needed.

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announces it has secured commitments from two customers for a total of three Bell 407GXPs in corporate/VIP configuration while at the Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo 2016 in Louisville, KY.

Heli-One, the world’s largest independent provider of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, completes the 9,000-hour G check on an H225 for a major operator in the North Sea. The maintenance was performed at Heli-One’s Stavanger facility in Norway and marks the first major H225 inspection for that operator.

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announces that Petroleum Air Services has been appointed as the first Bell Helicopter Authorized Customer Service Facility in North Africa.

The newest engine to feature the system is the PW210A powering Finmeccanica’s AW169, which joins the PW210S on Sikorsky’s S-76D™ and the PT6C-67E on Airbus Helicopters’ H175 – the first PT6 engine to be equipped with FADEC. StandardAero receives both Customer Satisfaction and Program Investment awards at the Rolls-Royce FIRST Network Recognition Reception, held on February 29 as part of Rolls-Royce’s attendance at this year’s HAI HELI-EXPO in Louisville, KY. The awards recognize authorized maintenance service centers that provide MRO services for M250 helicopter engines. This is the unprecedented seventh year in a row that StandardAero has received the Customer Satisfaction award at the annual Rolls-Royce FIRST Network Recognition Reception.

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announces a signed letter of intent with Guangxi Diwang Group for 10 Bell 525 Relentless super-medium helicopters. Guangxi Diwang Group will use the Bell 525s for tourism and search-and-rescue missions. Guangxi Diwang Group is a commercial development and real estate investor.

Enstrom believes a Feb. 12 accident demonstrates the ruggedness of its N180TH's design and the ability of the aircraft to protect the occupants. While flying, the prototype TH-180 experienced a mechanical problem and made a forced landing. During the landing, the rotor struck a wooden utility pole, cutting off the pole and destroying the main rotor blades. Preliminary investigation indicates that a piece of flight test instrumentation in the main drive system failed, disconnecting the engine from the drive train. The pilot, the only person on board, was uninjured.

Vector Aerospace (www.vectoraerospace.com), a global independent provider of aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, announces that it has been awarded a contract to perform 12-year inspections on three Airbus Helicopters AS350 B3 AStars operated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD). Vector will conduct these inspections at its facilities in Langley, BC, Canada over the next two years. In addition to the AS350 B3 airframe inspections and subsequent aircraft repaint, Vector will also overhaul two Turbomeca Arriel 2B1 turboshafts for the SBCSD at its facility in Richmond, BC, Canada.
